As much as we appreciate how considerate they are being, we can't help but feel a little bad about all of the extra work they've done that, to be honest, strictly wasn't necessary.
So, we had our team throw together a quick list of things you can do to prepare for your carpet installation, without going beyond the call of duty. Many of the tips are meant to make the experience more convenient for you, but they are all useful steps to make the process smoother for everyone involved. Let's have a look!
Lay the Carpet Down Last
If your carpet install is part of a broader renovation project, it's a good idea to save the carpet for last, to avoid some potentially costly complications.
One of the great things about carpeting is its ability to absorb airborne pollutants and trap them until they can be safely picked up, but this quality is somewhat less than desirable, when the airborne pollutants in question are construction dust. This is to say nothing of workers tracking in mud from outdoors, dripping paint or any number of other complications that could damage your new carpet.
Hide the Pets Away
No matter how much you love your pets, you would probably agree that a worksite is no place for them to be. Make sure you have a place for your pets to stay that is clear of the work area, to avoid any problems they might cause.
Work zones are dangerous for pets, but your pets are also dangerous to work zones! The can be tripping hazards, potentially dangerous distractions, and can even soil your new carpet before it's even completely installed. It's best that they just take the day off while your work crew is busy.
De-clutter the Work Area
The last thing you need to worry about before your crew arrives is to make sure that you have de-cluttered the floor where they will be working. Pick up any toys, light furniture, shoes, or any other random stuff that might be lying around, so your crew can get right to the job upon arrival.
This will save you both time and money, and your crew will appreciate being able to jump right into the project.
